A friendly discussion with close friends, caused me to comment regarding a questionable statement if not an implication, are western separatists patriotic? My response:

Throwing this out there because I’ve had dialogue with these separatists. Do you think these separatists (Western) wish to separate from Canada because they desire to protect and preserve what our forefathers fought and died for? Or is it something else?

I can tell you they wish to uphold our freedoms and liberties, which are quickly being eroded by corrupt eastern politicians (Including many within our province of Saskatchewan). Whereby these immoral legislators, and unsympathetic populace, especially those in Ontario and Quebec, continue to steal our resources, our wealth, our tax dollars while continuing to alienate the west and treat us like second-class citizens.  

These separatists are not less patriotic or any less appreciative of the many who died in battle fighting for something they believe in. If anything, their patriotism matches or exceeds many of those before us, because they now fight for something they believe in, our rights and freedoms. Too many people today are like sheep or lemmings who follow the crowd and glom, without question, onto every word that our bureaucrats and media spew.
