The Logic or Illogical of Legalized Marijuana
Before the 17th of October 2018, marijuana was the most common illegal drug in Canada (and probably world wide). Like it or not, we will soon realize the full effects of Canadian marijuana legalization. Mainstream media continue to make hay from this straw with newscast upon newscast validating and promoting the legalization. What is disconcerting is that an Angus Reid poll suggested 6 out of 10 Canadians supported legalization.[i]
Why should anyone care that 6 out of 10 Canadians want to turn their minds into mush?
Foremost, CONSERVATIVES and Canadians should CARE.
Marijuana contains about 400 chemicals. Cannabis changes the chemical balance in your brain, which is what the toker refer to as “being high”. The active or psychoactive ingredients are a group of substances called cannabinoids. Most notably the chemical group THC which is the strongest and is responsible for the characteristic chemical reactions. The consumption (inhalation, ingestion) of cannabis produces a sense of relaxation and lowers inhibition. Hunger pangs usually follow this euphoric reaction.
We have all seen in social media how MJ used for medicinal use relieves those suffering from certain condition(s). Does it help everyone? If marijuana affects those with a condition, what does it do to a healthy normal brain? It is well known the health risk of substance abuse upon livers, and especially the brain (that organ, that small grey matter between your ears which allows us to think).
The push from those promoting legalization insinuate it's a natural health food, a miracle cure for everything, better than alcohol and tobacco. I ask what proof do you have for this assertion? This disingenuous promotion manipulates our youth to believe Pot is not dangerous. Far from truth, it highly affects developing brains; anyone under the age of 25 and pregnant females suffer greater risks.
Side effects can produce: dry mouth, bloodshot eyes and lethargy. It also impairs reflexes, memory, judgement and can cause paranoia. Because these toxins are fat soluble, removal from the body is slow thus they can accumulate to where one can overdose with death as the possible outcome. Carcinogenic consequences of smoke inhalation cause lung damage and even cancer. Long term use of marijuana weakens the immune system.
Symptoms of overdose: fatigue, lack of motivation, paranoia, panic attacks, delusions and hallucinations.
The euphoric affects (length and severity) vary from user to user. Prolonged use from the addictive properties of marijuana leads to increased usage or as a gateway drug for other stronger illicit narcotics to keep and maintain that required high. These scientifically proven facts I gleaned from numerous sources. These truths have been known for decades. Anyone denying them are in foolish denial or have ulterior motives.
What’s being failed to mention in these scientific studies is how smoking Pot affects our society. Any addiction ruins lives, relationships, families and places a burden on health care, our welfare and our penal systems. You only need to visit an emergency room late into the night or our penal institutions to grasp the results of drug use. Incarcerated individuals are not only behind bars for trafficking but because of their drug use they were convicted for theft, violence, murder, sex crimes, etc.
Recent scientific research that sometimes violence was the cause of marijuana usage.[i] Did I mention the burden placed on employers who must contend with low productivity workers?
Our inept Federal Government, in their attempt to brainwash Canadians, claims that legalizing marijuana prevents our children from illegally obtaining and using the product. I must ask how, when many of our youngsters under the legal age continuously illegally obtain and consume alcohol and continue to obtain and use illicit drugs. It is nonsensical to claim such while they try to remove hand guns from legal gun owners in the need for mass public safety.
I’ve commented, in my book The Naked leftist and while I campaigned for the Conservative nomination, as to I fail to understand why humankind want to disengage from society by being drunk or high. If any of you are users, please drop me a reply to why you feel the need to disengage? The only entity to benefit from this disengagement is a leftist government leading a weak and complicit leftist society. A society relying on leftist governments to provide all resources and thought. A society willingly controlled.[ii] If you doubt me on this, we have leftist individuals and leadership (Jagmeet Singh) campaigning to decriminalize all personal drug possession.[iii]
Whether it is boredom, self-esteem, peer pressure, life-stress there is no benefit from withdrawing and facing the problem.
Legalizing will not curtail underground sale of the product. Federal regulations will have taxation so high, there will still be unregulated sales. You only need to look at cigarettes, alcohol and guns, all are being sold on black markets.
You and I should be concerned about the calamity that will shortly befall our nation. Legal cannabis is not some harmless indulgence. Besides the stated side effects to users, abusers and addicts along with their familial relationships, Bill C-45 affects international relationships.
Trudeau jeopardizes his attempts to purchase his way onto a seat at the UN because the UN regrets Canada’s or more aptly the Liberal’s legislation to legalize cannabis (a more user-friendly connotation of marijuana). “As noted by the International Narcotics Control Board in its statement of 21 June, this decision contravenes the provisions of the drug control conventions, and undermines the international legal drug control framework and respect for the rules-based international order.”[iv]
Many in the stock market attempt a huge payoff on this rapidly expanding bubble. A niche market of brand-new companies and managed by unknown newcomers. These stock purchasers are high, high with optimism, just like many users and abusers of Mary Jane. I refuse to capitalize on her potential profit mania. Like the Bitcoin bubble, I see no benefit. Once investors grasp that corporate fundamentals are unsound that euphoric high will soon become a painful withdrawal. An asset that literally goes up in smoke and adds no value to humanity. Even with its limited medicinal benefits for a few there are very, few legal marijuana grow ups producing a profit. With any corporation relying on profit derived from legislation, its akin to government forcing those living in the Antarctic to purchase lawn mowers. You can read more of a leftist government forcing individuals to purchase lawnmowers in my book The Naked leftist.
Long term successful traders pick undervalued stocks of established companies. These unestablished Weed companies buying out their competitors for billions and billions in unrealized markets is a risky game. I for one do not believe the Reefer Madness demand will come to fruition. Once buyers realize the excess government price control (taxation) the illicit black market will prevail. Revenue and earnings per share for these legal Pot companies will not sustain their viability. There may be one company left standing monopolizing the market or we could see highly efficient, highly scientific agricultural companies taking control and picking up the pieces. The other possibility we could see unsustainable small produces highly subsidized by government or worse yet realize the entire market controlled from production to consumption by a government owned entity.
5 Reasons Why We Need to Repeal Bill C-45
- Bill C-45 violates three international treaties and brazenly undermines the global war on drugs.[v] Russian Ambassador Mikhail Ulyanov stated: “Ottawa has no right to make unilateral decisions, which are meant to impact the integrity of the international drug control conventions, and promote a selective approach to their implementation, thus opening the Pandora’s box. If other countries choose to follow the path taken by Canada, we will see the international legal drug control regime undergoing deep erosion and potentially being destroyed. This is totally unacceptable.” (See full press release.)[vi]
- Harms Canada’s reputation. Do we want Canada, our “home and native land” to be known as a “druggie haven” or as used in the same vein as Columbia? Federal legislation sets a limit of four plants per dwelling and it rejected a Senate amendment that allowed provinces to ban home grown operations outright. The problem is our Federal Government has yet to set legal blood toxicity limits before you are allowed to drive. When asked of this question Justice Jody Wilson-Raybould answered “It depends on a case-by-case basis”.[vii] This case-by-case basis does not bode well for Canada’s police officers or the public. Especially when Toronto’s Police Union disagrees with the 28-day consumption rule.[viii] The only other nation that has legalized “recreational” cannabis is Uruguay. I for one believe the illegal trade of marijuana will continue and spill across our borders.
- Protect Canada’s future—our youth. The act claims to protect those defined as “young persons” yet within 8 (1) (c) the Cannabis Act, permits children over age 11 to freely possess, use, and even share marijuana up to 5 g which I am told amounts to 10 joints at a time . “Young persons” over 17 are restricted to 30 g on their person in a public place. However, the Trudeau government knows well of the proven damage cannabis causes to our youth. A report from the Quebec Association of Psychiatrists states: “In brain imaging, one can see the lesions caused by THC [the drug in cannabis] in teenagers, including a reduction in brain volume, a sliming of the cortex, reduced neuronal connectivity, and changes in the structure of the white matter. Functional imaging shows that such brains need to work harder to execute tasks, thus compensating for the lesions.”
- 1 + 1 DOES NOT EQUAL 2! The use of cannabis with alcohol or other illicit drugs in dangerous. It is not a numerical increase but an exponential increase to the danger. The number of impaired driving incidents will rise, including fatalities. Would you want to work with co-worker who is high? Would you want your accountant or lawyer to be high? How about that Police Officer who was hired to protect and serve? How about your nurse, or doctor? Also, is it worth the harm that edible cannabis products are easily accessed by children, who may get sick or die as a result of ingesting them?
- Coming to a neighborhood near you. Would you like a Pot Shop next door to the place you call home; your residence, an investment where you expect rising real estate values? What about the putrid, lingering smoke and the no-good smokers filling our streets and the other illegal activity that comes lock step with toking up? Schools, libraries, malls, parks, and public squares will eventually become areas of loitering tokers and pot exchange hubs – and no one will be able to do a damn thing!
