What Does Freedom Mean to You?

Posted 7/31/2022

I had hoped to publish this blog for Canada Day, unfortunately the freedom of time bolted. Perhaps Saskatchewan Day is more fitting?

Across the nation of Canada, we celebrate Canada Day, an anniversary which symbolizes and celebrates our Confederation’s milestone of July 1, 1867. That day our forefathers passed the British North America Act. A day that should unite rather than divide all Canadians.

Originally, this civic holiday was known as Dominion Day, but was later renamed in 1982. That same year, Canada patriated her Constitution with the Canada Act 1982, and granted us full sovereignty. Or did it?

After December 11, 1931 and the Statute of Westminster, Canada was no longer a colony, and we were no longer British subjects. Yet, many scholars proclaim Canada is simply a geographical expression; we are not a sovereign nation. Confederation, or federal union, is a Union of Sovereign States mutually adopting a constitution. Unfortunately, for a complexity of reasons we do not have a union of provinces. One of which, in 1982 Quebec refused to sign the Constitution. Since then, the provinces are living a common law union. No divorce or secession procedures apply to such unions.

Does this mean we are freer than we think? I will speak more about sovereignty in another blog or possibly a book.

Each of us defines freedom differently. It varies for every one of us. It is hard to express in succinct terms—for most of us; it is a feeling, rather than a powerful belief or firm definition.

Freedom, like a diamond, contains many facets—freedom of conscience and religion to freedom of speech, freedom to choose your employ, freedom of odious debt, etc. What comes with freedom is one’s rights–right to life, right to liberty, right to own property, etc.

I define freedom as an autonomy to live life as you wish, choosing your own destiny without hindering liberties of others to do the same. It requires mutual respect, and that includes respecting one’s opinions. “God knew one man’s freedom would impair another man’s freedom of life, liberty and property.”[i] One must live to a moral code, “Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.” Regarding freedom, I speak of it at great lengths within The Naked leftist.

Can Canadians truly celebrate Canada Day when Federal and Provincial politicians impose their tyrannical follies upon us? And, why should we celebrate Canada Day solely on July 1, and not every day?

How can a sovereign nation be led by tyrannical narcists? And why do we allow the likes of Trudeau, Freeland, and of course our provincial leaders of Moe, Kenney, Ford? These fascists (in the truest definition), rather than representing individual Canadians, empathize with globalist–psychopaths who wish to eliminate 5 billion people.

These past few years, current powers in Canada have used the excuse of a public health mismanagement crisis to infringe on and destroy our most basic constitutional freedoms. Fracturing society with governmental policies such as forced vaccinations, quarantine camps and even introducing Critical Race Theory—which pits Caucasians against people of color. Federal and provincial leaders even removed our right to peaceful protest. And very publicly prevented a trucker’s convoy or a freedom march on parliament hill.

Extravagant socialist policies destroyed our most basic constitutional freedoms through wasteful spending and crippling our debt. That, along with harmful vaccines, stifles a promising future for our children.

I can’t call Trudeau a man, or even a boy, because each of them possesses a scrotum. He is a genderless child who deceives/betrays with every utterance from his mouth. He is someone who regularly breaks ethics laws and contravenes our constitution. Trudeau is a despotic leader who admires China, imprisons pastors, shutters churches, and criminalizes visiting loved ones.

He, along with provincial leaders and government bureaucrats, removed the rights and freedoms from Canadian citizens. They destroyed thousands of livelihoods; Criminalized free speech and intend to censor the internet. They monopolized the media and information flow.

Waving a flag other than on July 1st brands you a trouble maker; and someone who should be spied upon by the jackboot thugs, and demands freezing or seizing of your bank accounts. You are banned from sharing truth on social media, ostracized and ignored by government officials.

We were a once proud nation, and well respected throughout the world. That changed after Turdeau took office. He tried to assert himself upon the UN council. It all worsened after his trip to Aga Khan’s Island in 2017.

Liberty is dead when badged thugs attack at a leader’s whim. Evoking an emergency measures act and with no evidence our elected officials falsely misappropriated government power upon freedom loving truckers but also perpetuated a pandemic. In-so-far, Ottawa, in order to maintain a respectful Canada Day (one that did not protest corrupt government officials), increased fines on unusual noise, shouting, idling, and even encumbering a highway.

Freedom includes free speech, that is all speech. Even if that speech is disagreeable. Why should Trudeau and his corrupt liberals be allowed to spread lies concerning climate change, a phony pandemic, and enhance globalism? Meanwhile, those of us who see through the deception are prevented from sharing the science?

We must pray for our country and give thanks to God for the return of our prosperity.
